Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to assist with the application of occupational hygiene principles, knowledge and techniques to manage work health and safety (WHS) risks. It includes understanding how occupational hygiene contributes to WHS management, the appropriate application of occupational hygiene knowledge, skills and techniques and working with occupational hygienists and other specialists.This unit applies to individuals who assist with applying occupational hygiene to manage WHS risks. Individuals who are required to assist with the monitoring of a range of physical agents and/or conditions in the workplace should use BSBWHS409 Assist with workplace monitoring processes.NOTE: The terms 'occupational health and safety' (OHS) and 'work health and safety' (WHS) are equivalent and generally either can be used in the workplace. In jurisdictions where the Model WHS Legislation has not been implemented RTOs are advised to contextualise the unit of competency by referring to the existing State/Territory OHS legislative requirements.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
